Quarter 2, Week 1 (10/7/24-10/10/24)

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder will practice painting skills and fill a paper with two primary colors. Trace then cut out painted papers to create organic shapes.  
  • 1st grade will be introduced to Pablo Picasso's artworks and recreate the Dove of Peace.
  • 2nd grade will practice drawing using basic shapes and lines, studying flowers. 
  • 3rd grade will be drawing birds by using basic shapes to sketch. Read about the artist John James Audubon. Practice tracing a bird.

Welch: Art 3-6

  • 3rd Grade will continue coloring their James Audubon pieces with colored pencils.
  • 4th Grade will begin using watercolor pencils for their Blue Horse paintings.
  • 5th Grade will add textures and patterns to their chameleon drawings.
  • 6th Grade will begin their unit on shading.

  • Kinder
    • Students will identify singular and plural school supplies and provide information about how they are used by visualizing and interpreting pages 100 and 101 in the textbook through participation during question time. 
  • First Grade
    • Students will learn and identify different school yard games in Chile and in their own school by using the textbook and workbook to visualize and visually identify the context in which they are said. 
  • Second Grade
    •  Students will continue learning about the days of the week and the activities they do, and they will also learn how to write sentences using the vocabulary learned by writing on their desks and visualizing and interpreting pages 102-103 in the textbook through participation

Lee: Latin 3-6

  • 3rd grade
    • Will learn the names of the noun cases (Nominative, Genitive, Dative, Accusative, Ablative)
  • 4th grade
    • Will learn how to decline 1st declension nouns
  • 5th and 6th grades
    • Will review how to decline 1st and 2nd declension nouns and will play Declension Wars!

Music

Abrego: Music K-2

  • Kindergarten 
    • The students will label the beat, introduce the beat icon, and present the word “beat.”
    • Students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Frideric Handel.

    • The students will prepare to analyze repertoire that contains so-mi. The students will practice writing musical patterns that contain quarter and eighth notes.

Physical Education

Walsh: PE K-3

*Kinder through Third Grade Scholars will learn:

  • how to work together as a team and how to demonstrate good sportsmanship.
  • how to communicate and cheer on their classmates as they prepare for Field Day! 
  • Athletic Field Day (Grades 1st & 2nd) will be November 6th!
  • Athletic Field Day (3-4 in the morning) and Kinder (in the afternoon) will be November 7th! 

Woods: PE 3-6

  • Reepicheep’s Lair- Field Day Prep
    • Objective: Class will attempt to move all the way across the field; they must do this by stepping inside the hula hoop given to them and once inside, passing the hoop up and over their head and placing it in front of them before stepping into the hoop again.
  • Discus Throw - Field Day Prep
    • Objective: To throw the discus using proper form as far as you can while remaining behind the throwing line. 
  • Hula Hoop Relay - Field Day Prep
    • Objective: move the hula hoop around the circle of people (entire house/city-state) holding hands without breaking handholds
