Q2 Week 2 (October 20-24)

 

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder – Students will learn how to use organic shapes and simple lines to draw a bird and be introduced to coloring with different values.
  • 1st – Students will be introduced to the element of art texture and study real vs implied textures.
  • 2nd – Students will complete their drawings of their Victorian houses and add texture.
  • 3rd – Students will begin studying Henri Matisse’s goldfish and draw the outline of the work for the Art Show.

 

Bissey: Art 3-6

Drama

Lucero: Drama 6th

  • 6th - As You Like It rehearsals

Languages

Puopolo: Spanish K-2

  • Kinder The students will identify and say what schoolyard games children play and what students do during recess by observing and visualizing pages 82 and 83 from the textbook
  • 1st - Students will learn and identify different school yard games in Chile and in their own school by using the textbook and workbook to visualize and visually identify the context in which they are said.
  • 2nd - The students will continue learning about the days of the week and the activities they do, and they will also learn to make sentences by writing on their desks and visualizing and interpreting pages 102-103 in the textbook through participation during question time.


Fasenmyer: Latin 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will be working on Chapter 2 Part 2 of Minimus and learning the 1st conjugation of Latin verbs.
  • 4th - Students will be working on Chapter 2 Part 2 of Minimus and reviewing the 1st conjugation of Latin verbs.
  • 5th – Chapter 2 of Lingua Latina and introduction to Genitive Case (Possessive Case)
  • 6th -  Review of Chapter 3 of Lingua Latina and review of the Nominative (Naming Case) and Accusative Case (Direct Object Case (most consistent use)). Start of Chapter 4 Review.

 

Music

Abrego: Music K-2


All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th.

Please note this change:

            5:30 concert – Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades

            7:15 concert – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades

 

  • Kinder - The students will learn to create a representation of high and low voices. The students will learn beat improvisation.

o   The students will learn about concert etiquette.

o   Students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Frideric Handel.    

  •  1st – The students will label and notate the solfege “sol-mi”.

o   The students will learn about concert etiquette.  

o   Students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Frideric Handel.    

  •  2nd -The students will learn to analyze repertoire that contains a pitch, re, between mi and do. The students will learn to write rhythm patterns that contain a half note.

o   The students will learn about concert etiquette.

o   Students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of Muzio Clementi.    

  

Balmer: Music 3-6

*Scholars will continue to prepare for Field Day! Field Day is coming soon! Please save the following dates to your calendars:

-October 29th- 1st & 2nd Field Day

-October 30th- 3rd & 4th in the morning and Kinder Field Day in the afternoon

-October 31st- 5th & 6th Field Day

 

Boland: PE 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will be able to practice a few of the field day events coming up.
  • 4th - Students will be able to practice a few of the field day events coming up.
  • 5th – Students will continue the flag football unit. They will also compete in the field day relay race to try to earn a spot on that team.
