K-3: Hibler
  • Kinder students will study Paul Cezanne's work and begin their art show project of a copy of Fruits and Vase.
  • 1st grade will complete their self-portrait sketches and begin skin tone studies.
  • 2nd grade will practice shading/ blending with colored pencils and color replicas of Maria Merian's work.
  • 3rd grade will complete their sketches of John James Audubon's Common Troupial.
3-6: Bissey
  • 3rd grade will learn and review color theory.
  • 4th grade will continue applying their value skills.
  • 5th grade will learn how to apply their knowledge of color theory.
  • 6th grade will complete their independent art projects.

Music

  • Kindergarten: The students practice reading high and low melodies.
  • 1st grade: The Students will practice writing melodies that include the solfege syllable la.
  • 2nd grade: The students will create a visual representation of the notes of the do pentatonic scale.
3-6: Andersen
  • 3rd grade: The students will learn sixteenth note rhythms and how they relate to eighth notes.
  • 4th grade: The students will practice ringing chimes and begin reading chime music.
  • 5th grade: The students will review rhythms and accidentals including sharps, flats, and naturals.
  • 6th grade: The students will practice singing in canon and review tetrachords.

Art

  • Kinder students will review forms and begin using values to create a 3D looking fruit.
  • 1st grade will be introduced to self-portraits and begin drawing facial features.
  • 2nd grade will review the artist Maria Merian and sketch the outline of her work.
  • 3rd grade will be introduced to John James Audubon and begin practicing using lines and shapes to draw a bird.

  • 3rd grade will learn about color theory. Specifically primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
  • 4th grade will apply their knowledge of value to a drawing of an apple.
  • 5th grade will continue learning about color theory and color schemes.
  • 6th grade will continue their independent art projects of choice.

    • 1st grade: The students will learn to label a pitch a step above so as la. The students will learn to internalize duple meter.
    • 2nd grade: The students will learn to analyze repertoire containing a sixteenth note.

  • 3rd grade: The students will review the names of the lines and spaces on the treble and bass clefs.
    • 4th grade: The students will learn the fundamentals of playing the hand chimes.
    • 5th grade: The students will review the names of the lines and spaces on the treble and bass clefs. The students will learn accidentals (sharps, flats, and naturals).

  • Kinder – students will review concepts of value/shading in art.
  • 1st – students will begin their replicas of the Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh.
  • 2nd – students will learn about Henri Matisse and begin drawing a still life.
  • 3rd –  begin the Goldfish by Matisse for their art show work.

Bissey: Art 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will replicate a bird drawing by John James Audubon.

·       4th – Students will explore the work of Paul Klee.

·       5th – Students will replicate Durer’s Rhinoceros

·       6th -  Students will apply their knowledge of value in drawing classical sculptures.

  • Kinder – Students will learn how to use organic shapes and simple lines to draw a bird and be introduced to coloring with different values.
  • 1st – Students will be introduced to the element of art texture and study real vs implied textures.
  • 2nd – Students will complete their drawings of their Victorian houses and add texture.
  • 3rd – Students will begin studying Henri Matisse’s goldfish and draw the outline of the work for the Art Show.

  • Kinder The students will identify and say what schoolyard games children play and what students do during recess by observing and visualizing pages 82 and 83 from the textbook
  • 1st - Students will learn and identify different school yard games in Chile and in their own school by using the textbook and workbook to visualize and visually identify the context in which they are said.
  • 2nd - The students will continue learning about the days of the week and the activities they do, and they will also learn to make sentences by writing on their desks and visualizing and interpreting pages 102-103 in the textbook through participation during question time.

  • 3rd – Students will be working on Chapter 2 Part 2 of Minimus and learning the 1st conjugation of Latin verbs.
  • 4th - Students will be working on Chapter 2 Part 2 of Minimus and reviewing the 1st conjugation of Latin verbs.
  • 5th – Chapter 2 of Lingua Latina and introduction to Genitive Case (Possessive Case)
  • 6th -  Review of Chapter 3 of Lingua Latina and review of the Nominative (Naming Case) and Accusative Case (Direct Object Case (most consistent use)). Start of Chapter 4 Review.
