Salvete, parentes discipulique! In our first week all grades will primarily learn classroom procedures, including:
  • How we begin and end class
  • How we are called to attention
  • How we will pass out and collect papers and books
  • How we will conduct our new "exit ticket" method, Plickers
Along the way, we'll learn/relearn a few Latin words and phrases and be introduced to our textbook for the year. There is no homework for any grade in week 1.

Sra. Puopolo (Spanish: K-2)

My name is Luz Puopolo, I teach Spanish K-2, and I am so excited to teach both returning, and new scholars this school year. This is what the scholars will learn the first week:

Kindergarten

Students will learn:
  • How to introduce themselves in Spanish
  • The names of class materials and other necessary words like: “maestro” and “estudiante”
  • Expectations for the class and classroom routines
  • A greeting song

First

Students will review:
  • How to ask and respond to “What is your name?” in Spanish
  • The greeting song (Buenos Dias & Hola Hola)
  • The names of class materials and other necessary words like: “maestro” and “estudiante.”
  • Expectations for the class and classroom procedures

Second

Students will review & practice:
  • How to ask and respond to “What is your name?” in Spanish
  • The greeting song (Buenos Dias & Hola Hola)
  • The names of class materials and other necessary words like: “maestro” and “estudiante.”
  • Expectations for the class and classroom procedures

Happy 2023-24 school year! 
Listed below is a brief summary of what your K-2, 6th grade scholars will learn for the first two weeks of school: 

Kindergarten

  • Develop tuneful singing. 
  • Develop beat and listening skills.
  • Learn classroom repertoire.
  • Learn facts and musical compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach.

1st Grade

  • Review known classroom songs.
  • Review performing and reading high and low melody.
  • Learn facts and musical compositions of Francois Couperin. 

2nd Grade

  • Review the aural presentation and notation of la. 
  • Review kinesthetic and aural awareness of 2/4 meter.
  • Learn facts and musical compositions of Domenico Scarlatti.

6th Grade

  • Review note names for the treble clef and bass clef. 
  • Identify note names and their placement on the keyboard. 
  • Aurally analyze concert repertoire.
