Summary

It's the start of a new quarter, and we're hitting the ground running, because Q2 is always short and busy, busy, busy. Major events this quarter include Field Day (November 1-3), the Winter Concerts (December 1) and the 6th grade Drama performances (December 13-14).

Mrs. Balmer (Music: 3-5)

I hope everyone enjoyed their Fall Break and has returned rested and refreshed! We will be working hard on getting our Winter Concert pieces polished before Thanksgiving. We have lots left to do, but the students seem to be enjoying the music. Below you will find a link to the rehearsal materials. Please encourage your Scholar to spend a few minutes every day reviewing what we have done in class. It will serve to make everyone more confident on concert day!

This quarter, I will periodically incorporate Questions to Ponder which will be given at the 1st class of the week and discussed in the 2nd class of the week. Students are encouraged to review and discuss the question at home, do research as needed, and even write out a short response to share in class. This week’s question is “What is Classical music and how is it influenced by the time in which it was composed?” I look forward to our class discussion later in the week. All students must be prepared to answer the question. This activity will support the DOI/SOW grading category.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
