Music students are working diligently to prepare for the Spring Concert on Friday, May 3rd at Trinity Baptist Church. 3rd and 5th grade students interested in auditioning for instrumental parts will find rehearsal materials at the link below. 4th grade students are working on both chimes and singing and are enjoying the challenge. Vocal rehearsal tracks are being uploaded at the link below.

Miss Hibler (Art: K-2, 3A&B)

K: Artists will be introduced to the color wheel, primary and secondary colors.

1: Artists will complete their own color wheels and review how colors are made- Introduce complementary colors

2: Students will be introduced to printmaking techniques and draw their own Texas state fish (the Guadalupe bass) to print next week.

3: Students will create a collage of one animal and its environment using techniques practiced in their previous project. Watercolor experiments with salt and water.

Mr. Lucero (Drama: 6A & 6B)

Mr. Lucero is excited to be taking over Drama for the second semester. 6A and 6B are taking Drama this semester, culminating in performances of a Shakespeare play.

3rd, 4th

On Monday and Tuesday we finish the Theseus stories with a philosophical discussion about the paradox of Theseus' ship, and we receive a new practice log (due 2/17 [B&D] or 2/18 [A&C]). On Wednesday and Thursday we will make flashcards for a new vocabulary list.

5th

On Monday and Tuesday we start reading chapter 6 and learning the perfect tense, and we receive a new practice log (due 2/17 [B&D] or 2/18 [A&C]). On Wednesday and Thursday we will make flashcards for a new vocabulary list.

6th

On Monday and Tuesday we finish chapter 6 and review passive voice verb forms, and we receive a new practice log (due 2/17 [B&D] or 2/18 [A&C]). On Wednesday and Thursday we will make flashcards for a new vocabulary list.

Kinder - Students will be able to identify, in other cultures and their own, places to go in a community to buy specific products.

First Grade - The students will be able to identify characteristics of other communities and their own.

Second Grade - Students will identify workers in their community and compare places where people go shopping in other communities and in their own.

Kindergarten: 

-Aurally analyze classroom songs with various rhythms. 
-Practice improvisation of high and low melodies.
-Learn facts and musical compositions about Beethoven.

1st Grade: 

-Create a visual representation of strong and weak beats in duple meter.
-Practice improvising melodies that include la.

2nd Grade: 

-Learn to read a write the do pentatonic scale.
-Practice notating the pentatonic scale on the staff.
-Learn facts and musical compositions of Stephen Foster.

6th Grade: 

-Apply knowledge of the grand staff to learning the notes on the keyboard. 
-Perform rhythms containing quarter notes, quarter rests, eighth note pairs, and whole notes in 4/4 time signature.
-Practice sight reading rhythm with solfege from concert song #3. 
-Rehearse concert song #1 and #2.

K and 1st grade scholars will continue working on volleyballs skills. 

2nd grade scholars will work strategically with others on a team to practice offensive and defensive football skills. 

3rd grade scholars will begin Fitness Gram testing.

3rd: The students will learn about the element of art, texture, being applied through lines.

4th: The students will learn be painting flowers using watercolors.

5th: The students will learn how to draw a city using one point perspective.

6th:  The students will be learning colored pencil techniques.
