Quarter 2, Week 6 (11/27-12/1)

Summary

Winter Concert on Friday, all grade music rehearsals all week, and three weeks until the Winter Break!

Mrs. Balmer (Music: 3-5)

All grade rehearsals this week during AM specials period!


Winter Concert: December 1st 7:15PM at Trinity Baptist Church (319 E. Mulberry) 


Students arrive at 6:45PM dressed in concert attire. 


Concert attire: 


-Boys: white oxford style shirt, black slacks, a black belt, black dress shoes and socks, and a tasteful tie or bow tie preferably in school colors (no pop culture or musical ties).   


-Girls: white blouse (no halter tops or spaghetti straps), a black skirt (knee-length or longer), black dress shoes (no high heels), and appropriate under-garments.  Girls may also wear a solid black dress if this is preferable. 


Sneakers or athletic shoes are not permitted.

Miss Hibler (Art: K-2, 3A&B)

Kindergarten

Kindergarteners will continue practices with values as they draw a fox (using organic shapes) and fill it in with different values. 

First

First grade will experiment with watercolors. They will learn about wet-on-wet techniques and try applying different materials to their pages to see the effects left on their work.

Second

Artists will complete their large-scale drawing of the Seashell using charcoal.

Third

3A/B will not have Art this week due to Winter Concert Rehearsals. See you Friday!

Mrs. Keller (Drama: 6)

Midsummer rehearsals this week. Be sure to check your email about a mandatory late rehearsal on December 11 (6D) or December 12 (6C). If there is an unavoidable time conflict with this rehearsal, please let Mrs. Keller know as soon as possible. Performances are the evenings of December 13 (6D) and December 14 (6C).

3rd and 4th

We are learning to conjugate verbs in the present tense. Practice logs are due 12/6 or 12/7.

Songs of the week: Amo La Bamba and Tim's Parents.

5th

We are learning to decline 2nd declension nouns this week and competing in "Declension Wars!". Practice logs are due 12/6 or 12/7. Be sure to study chapter 3 and 4 vocabulary for the test on the same day.

6th

We are learning/relearning to decline 2nd declension nouns this week and competing in "Declension Wars". Practice logs are due 12/6 or 12/7. Be sure to study chapter 3 and 4 vocabulary for the test on the same day.

Sra. Puopolo (Spanish: K-2)

Kinder, First, and Second

The students will be able to introduce friends in different ways. They will also talk about friends using singular and plural nouns.

Students arrive at 5:10PM dressed in concert attire. 

Concert attire:

K-3 scholars will be working on their overhand and underhand throwing techniques with some exciting throwing games!

Mrs. Welch (Art: 3C&D, 4-6)

3rd grade

The students will begin their replication of Matisse’s painting, Goldfish.

4th grade

The students will begin their replication of a Gaugin’s still life painting.

5th grade

The students will continue to work on their replicate of Albrecht Durer’s rhino.

6th grade

The students will continue study of value by drawing and shading a vase using graphite pencils.

All grades are learning about soccer this week. Next week, 6th grade begins dancing.
