Thank you to everyone for your amazing work at the Winter Concert! It was a roaring success! I am so proud of you and your beautiful singing. This week we will get to review our performance and think about our Glows and Grows from the event. We want the Spring Concert to be even better! We will finish up this semester review and reinforcing music reading skills and reviewing all the songs we have learned throughout the first semester and getting a preview of our Spring Concert repertoire. We will also spend time with our Composers of the Month.

Kindergarten

Kindergarteners will continue studying values as we view artwork by Henri Rousseau. Replicate a jungle scene from Rousseau. 

First

First grade will continue exploring watercolors as they mix colors and create areas of interest by adding materials such as salt. What happened when salt was added to watercolor?

Second

Artists are exploring values and contrast as they create sketches on black paper.

Third

 Third grade is completing their Art Show project, The Goldfish by Henri Matisse.

3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th

All grades will compete in "Conjugation Wars" (3&4) or "Declension Wars" (5&6) on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday we will learn about Saturnalia. Friday we play Euge.

Kinder: The students will be able to identify locations using singular and plural nouns, describe a place, and recognize the “I” vowel sound 

First: The students will be able to describe people and events and identify people and things using the verb “SER”. 

Second: The students will be able to describe people’s personality using SER (to be) and describe people, places, and things.

Listed below is a summary of what your K-2, 6th grade scholars will learn for Quarter 2, Week 8: 

Kindergarten: 

-Label sounds as fast and slow.      

-Learn facts and musical compositions about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

1st Grade: 

-Create a visual representation of a quarter rest.  

-Practice staccato and legato in known classroom songs. 

-Improvise melodies using so and mi.    

-Learn facts and musical compositions of Felix Mendelssohn. 

2nd Grade: 

-Internalize four sounds on a beat through kinesthetic activities.  

-Practice reading melodies containing do, re, mi, so and la.

- Concert Songs #1, #2, and #3.

6th Grade: 

-Practice forming minor scales.

-Learn the elements of an Opera Seria.

K-3 scholars will continue working on soccer skills. Scholars will practice how to properly dribble a soccer ball and execute controlled passes.

The students will continue their replication of Matisse’s painting, Goldfish.

4th grade

The students will continue their replication of a Gaugin’s still life painting.

5th grade

The students will continue to work on their replicate of Albrecht Durer’s rhino.

6th grade

The students will continue study of value by drawing and shading a vase using graphite pencils.
