Q1 W5 (September 8-12, 2025)

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder - Students will use basic shapes to create animals and explore lines by adding texture and patterns.
  • 1st – Students will explore the elements of art line, creating a collage of different types of lines. Cutting skills practice with cutting different types of lines.
  • 2nd - Students will complete their symmetrical butterflies by cutting out the boarder and making the whole shape symmetrical
  • 3rd - Students will continue to explore line by recreating Starry Night using wax resist with watercolors.

 

Bissey: Art 3-6

  • 3rd - Students will continue to explore line by recreating Starry Night using oil pastels. 
  • 4th - Students will recreate Blue Horse I with watercolors.
  • 5th - Continuing our lesson on Optical Art. 
  • 6th - Students will incorporate their knowledge of the Elements of art to create texture drawings.

 

Drama

Lucero: Drama 6th

  • 6th - Complete reading of As You Like It and begin preparing for auditions.

 

Languages

Puopolo: Spanish K-2

  • Kinder - Students will identify school supplies and provide information about how they are used by visualizing and interpreting pages 96-99 in the textbook through participation during question time.
  • 1st - Students will learn how to ask for someone's name, and how to say what their name is.
  • 2nd - The students will continue learning about the places in a school and the rules they must follow by visualizing and interpreting pages 90-93 in the textbook through participation during question time.

Abrego: Music K-2

  • Kinder - The students will analyze repertoire sung with a loud or soft voice. The students will practice tuneful singing.
  • 1st - The students will learn to analyze repertoire that contains one and two sounds on a beat. Students will practice high and low melodic contour.  
  • 2nd - The students will learn the visual representation of a musical phrase that contains do. 

 


Balmer: Music 3-6

All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th. Please note this change:

            5:30 concert – Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades

            7:15 concert – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades

  • 3rd – Students will identify and draw notes on the treble clef staff. The September composer of the month is George Frederic Handel.
  • 4th – Students will identify and draw notes on the bass clef staff. The September composer of the month is Franz Schubert.
  • 5th – Students are reviewing dynamics and tempo terms. The September composer of the month is Muzio Clementi.
  • 6th – Students are reviewing rhythm counting and beginning sight-singing. Our September composer of the month is Gioachino Rossini.

Physical Education

Walsh: PE K-3

  • 3rd – . This week students worked on dribbling and stopping a ball with their feet and the difference between jumping and hopping. Next week we will begin Fitnessgram tests.

Quarter 1 Week 4 (Sept. 2-5)

 

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder - Students will complete their drawings of a background from our story, The Shape of Things, and add two cut out shapes to it.
  • 1st – Students will create a mosaic with a two color pattern out of foam paper.
  • 2nd - Students will use a monotype printing method to create a symmetrical butterfly.
  • 3rd - Students will use lines to create a sketch of their portion of the Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh.

 

Bissey: Art 3-6

  • 3rd - Students will explore line by recreating Starry Night using oil pastels.
  • 4th - Students will learn how to simplify Blue Horse I by using shape.
  • 5th - Continuing our lesson on Optical Art.
  • 6th - Students will discover the Principles of Design and how to apply them.

  • Kinder - Students will learn the difference between SENOR and SENORA by looking at the pictures from page 18 of the textbook. They will notice that senora is used for woman and senor for men
  • 1st - Students engage in conversation by using phrases and commands associated with bedtime and waking up.
  • 2nd - The students will learn about the places in a school and the rules they must follow by visualizing and interpreting pages 90-93 in the textbook through participation during question time.

  • Kinder - The students will learn to internalize loud or soft singing or chanting voice through kinesthetic activities. The students will practice tuneful singing and reading.
  • 1st - The students will review aural presentation and notation of rhythm. The students will learn to analyze repertoire that contains one and two sounds on a beat.  
  • 2nd - The students will review the pitch do and practice reading melodies in duple meter. The students will prepare aural awareness for the pitch below mi (re).  

 


Balmer: Music 3-6

        All classes and grade levels are reviewing and performing basic rhythm patterns and            working on our 1st concert selections. The Fall Concert is set for Friday, November            14th.

  • 3rd – Students continue to practice classroom rules and procedures while learning new skills such as Athletic Position, Mirroring, and Deceleration.

  • 5th – Students created their PE teams this week along with new Movement Prep spots. Great leadership opportunities come with this and new captain roles. We will be outside next week to continue our Flag Football unit lessons 3-4
