Q1 Week 8 (Sept. 29-Oct. 3)

 

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder – Students will continue practicing cutting skills with organic shapes and learn to identify the difference between organic and geometric shapes.
  • 1st – Students will complete their coloring of their house in a garden and practice using distinct values.
  • 2nd – Students will complete coloring their landscapes, identifying textures and values.
  • 3rd -  Students will complete their van gogh inspired sketches, using the element of art line.

Bissey: Art 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will create a replica of Joan Miro’s Woman in Front of the Sun.
  • 4th –  Students will continue to explore Franz Marc’s animal pieces.
  • 5th – Students will apply their knowledge of value to drawing texture.
  • 6th - Students will create a hand project focusing on lines and patterns.

 Drama

Lucero: Drama 6th

  • 6th - Continue blocking As You Like It
Languages

Puopolo: Spanish K-2

  • Kinder - Students will identify singular and plural school supplies and provide information about how they are used by visualizing and interpreting pages 100 and 101 in the textbook through participation during question time.
  • 1st - The students will identify classes and subjects in Chile and in their own school by visualizing and interpreting pages 104 and 105 in the textbook through participation during question time.
  • 2nd - The students will continue learning about the days of the week and they will also discuss what they do on certain days of the week by practicing the verb form VOY and visualizing and interpreting pages 100-101 in the textbook through participation during question time.

 Fasenmyer: Latin 3-6

  • 3rd - Completing Chapter 2 of Minimus, Vocab and gender review, Greek Myth
  • 4th - Completing Chapter 2 of Minimus, Vocab and gender review, Greek Myth
  • 5th -  Chapter 1 Test & test review          
  • 6th - Study Guide Review and Chapter 1-2 Review Test

Music

Abrego: Music K-2

All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th.

Please note this change:

            5:30 concert – Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades

            7:15 concert – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades

 

  • Kinder -  The students will label the beat, introduce the beat icon, and present the word “beat.” Students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Fredric Handel. 
  • 1st - The students will prepare to analyze repertoire that contains so-mi. The students will practice writing musical patterns that contain quarter and eighth notes.  Students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Fredric Handel. 
  • 2nd - The students will learn to label one sound that lasts two beats with the rhythm syllable ta-ah. The students will learn the history and music of composer Muzio Clementi.

 

 Balmer: Music 3-6

All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th.

  • 3rd – Students will understand and demonstrate the function of the dotted quarter note and explore the music of Rossini and Beethoven.
  • 4th – Students will name, identify, and draw the names of the treble and bass clef ledger lines and explore the life and music of Guillaume de Machaut.
  • 5th – Students will name the notes of the Grand Staff and perform the major and minor scales by interval pattern. We will begin exploring the life and music of Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky.
  • 6th – Students will identify accidentals and enharmonic notes. We will begin exploring the life and music of Francesca Caccini.

Physical Education

Walsh: PE K-3
 Kinder-Third Grade:

·      Scholars will continue to learn how to:

o      To demonstrate a proper throwing technique

o      To demonstrate the virtues of honesty and integrity 

 

Boland: PE 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will be outside again with the football unit
  • 4th - Students will be outside again with the football unit
  • 5th – Students will be outside again with the football unit
  • 6th – Students will be outside again with the football unit
