Quarter 1 Week 7 (Sept. 22-26)

 

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder – students will continue to learn about organic shapes and practice cutting skills.
  • 1st – students will complete their drawings of a house in a garden and add color.
  • 2nd – students will begin drawing a road using linear perspective (space), and add texture.
  • 3rd - students will study the work of Vincent van Gogh and recreate a sketch using lines they identify.

Bissey: Art 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will explore the work of Joan Miro and create a piece inspired by his work.
  • 4th – Students will add watercolor to their Blue Horse I drawings.
  • 5th – Students will practice drawing with value.
  • 6th - Students will practice drawing with value and form.

 

Drama

Lucero: Drama 6th

  • 6th - Finish auditions and begin reviewing for As You Like It part 1 quiz.

 

Languages

Puopolo: Spanish K-2

  • Kinder - Students will identify school supplies and provide information about are used by visualizing and interpreting pages 96-98 in the textbook through participation during question time
  • 1st - The students will learn about the places in a school and the rules they must follow by visualizing and interpreting pages 80 and 81 in the textbook through participation during question time.
  • 2nd - The students will learn about the days of the week by visualizing and interpreting pages 98-99 in the textbook through participation during question time.

 

Fasenmyer: Latin 3-6

  • 3rd - Completing Chapter 2 of Minimus & review!
  • 4th - Completing Chapter 2 of Minimus & review!
  • 5th - Review and Study Guide for Chapter 1 of Lingua Latina.
  • 6th - Review and Study Guide for Chapter 1-2 of Lingua Latina and beginning Chapter 3 review.



Music

Abrego: Music K-2


All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th.

Please note this change:

            5:30 concert – Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades

            7:15 concert – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades

 

  • Kinder -  The students will prepare to internalize beat through kinesthetic motions. The students will practice singing in a loud or soft voice. The students will continue concert preparations.
  • 1st - The students will learn the presentation of notation of one and two sounds on a beat. The students will continue concert preparations.
  •  2nd - The students will prepare to internalize a sound that lasts for two beats through kinesthetic activities. The students will practice singing and reading melodies with the solfege syllables la, so, mi, and do. The students will continue concert preparations.

 

Balmer: Music 3-6

All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th.

Please note this change:

            5:30 concert – Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades

            7:15 concert – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades

  • 3rd – Students will read and perform rhythm patterns including dotted half note and continue exploring the life and music of George Frederic Handel.
  • 4th – Students will name and label notes of the Grand Staff and continue exploring the life and music of Franz Schubert.
  • 5th – Students will name and write half steps and whole steps on the piano keyboard and define sharp, flat and natural while continuing to explore the life and music of Muzio Clementi.
  • 6th – Students will read and perform rhythm patterns including syncopation and pick up notes while exploring the life and music of Giaochino Rossini.

Physical Education

Walsh: PE K-3
 

Kinder-Third Grade:

·      Scholars will learn how to:

o   To demonstrate a proper throwing technique

o   To demonstrate the virtues of honesty and integrity 

 

Boland: PE 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will continue with Fitnessgram tests which include the Curl Up test and the Trunk Lift.
  • 4th - Students will continue with Fitnessgram tests which include the Curl Up test and the Trunk Lift.
  • 5th – . Students will continue with Fitnessgram tests which include the Curl Up test and the Trunk Lift.
  • 6th – Students will continue with Fitnessgram tests which include the Curl Up test and the Trunk Lift.
