Q2 Week 1 (October 6-10)

 

Art

Hibler: Art K-3

  • Kinder – students will watercolor on top of their previously drawn crayon fall leaves and observe the wax resist.
  • 1st – students will practice oil pastel blending techniques and learn how to shade from light to dark.
  • 2nd –  students will learn about Victorian architecture and recreate a building using lines and shapes.
  • 3rd -  students will complete their van Gogh sketches, replicating the Street in Saint Maries.

Bissey: Art 3-6

  • 3rd – Students will complete their replica of Woman in Front of the Sun by Joan Miro.
  • 4th – Students will complete their Blue Horse I replicas and study other art pieces by Franz Marc.
  • 5th – Students will apply their knowledge of texture for a detailed drawing of a chameleon.
  • 6th - Students will complete their line/pattern hand project.

Drama

Lucero: Drama 6th

  • 6th - Finish blocking As You Like It

 

Languages

Puopolo: Spanish K-2

  • Kinder Students will identify singular and plural school supplies and provide information about how they are used by visualizing and interpreting pages 100 and 101 in the textbook through participation during question time.
  • 1st - Students will learn and identify different school yard games in Chile and in their own school by using the textbook and workbook to visualize and visually identify the context in which they are said.
  • 2nd - The students will continue learning about the days of the week and the activities they do, and they will also learn to make sentences by writing on their desks and visualizing and interpreting pages 102-103 in the textbook through participation during question time.

Fasenmyer: Latin 3-6

  • 3rd - Begin Chapter 3 of Minimus and continue learning the Latin Gender song!
  • 4th - Begin Chapter 3 of Minimus and continue learning the Latin Gender song!
  • 5th – Begin Chapter 2 of Lingua Latina   
  • 6th -  Continue reading Chapter 3 of Lingua Latina


Music

Abrego: Music K-2

All students are continuing preparations for the concert on November 14th.

Please note this change:

            5:30 concert – Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades

            7:15 concert – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades

 

  • Kinder -
    • The students will learn to internalize high/low voice through kinesthetic activities and continue practicing steady beat and music reading.
    • The students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Fredric Handel. 
    • The students will audition for speaking parts for the Winter concert.
  • 1st –

o   The students will learn to label two pitches with the solfege syllables so-mi.

o   The students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of George Fredric Handel.

o   The students will audition for speaking parts for the Winter concert.

  •  2nd -

o   The students will internalize the pitch, re, between mi and do through kinesthetic activities and practice reading rhythm patterns that contain a half note.

o   The students will identify the musical era, musical themes, and biography of Muzio Clementi.

o   The students will audition for speaking parts for the Winter concert.

 

Balmer: Music 3-6
