• Kinder - Students will complete their drawings of a background from our story, The Shape of Things, and add two cut out shapes to it.
• 1st – Students will create a mosaic with a two color pattern out of foam paper.
• 2nd - Students will use a monotype printing method to create a symmetrical butterfly.
• 3rd - Students will use lines to create a sketch of their portion of the Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh.

• Kinder - Students will learn the difference between SENOR and SENORA by looking at the pictures from page 18 of the textbook. They will notice that senora is used for woman and senor for men

• 2nd - The students will learn about the places in a school and the rules they must follow by visualizing and interpreting pages 90-93 in the textbook through participation during question time.

• 2nd - The students will review the pitch do and practice reading melodies in duple meter. The students will prepare aural awareness for the pitch below mi (re).

• Kinder - students will draw shapes together and combine shapes to make new things.

• 4th – Students are reviewing concepts from 3rd grade music including lines and spaces of the treble clef, pentatonic scale, and rhythm counting. We are reviewing proper singing posture and vocal techniques. We are completing our study of François Couperin.
• 5th – Students are reviewing concepts from 4th grade music including note names of the treble and bass clefs, rhythm counting, and major scales. We are reviewing singing techniques and wrapping up our study of Domenico Scarlatti.
• 6th – Students are reviewing concepts from 5th grade music including note names of the Grand Staff, ledger lines, major and minor scales. Students are perfecting singing techniques and finishing up our study of Antonin Vivaldi.

Woods: PE 3-6

Shooting, Around the World

Set up five poly-spots about 5-10 feet from the baskets.

Beginning in athletic position, students should hold the ball properly: the shooting hand goes under the ball, the support hand is on the side of the ball holding it steady. Their feet should be square to the basket. They should gain power through their legs by extending their hips and knees fully, then make their arms extend up towards the basket. At full arm extension, they should follow through, by snapping their wrist to shoot the ball forward.

Students will practice shooting one at a time, taking 3 shots from each of the poly-spots. Other squad members will retrieve the rebound and bounce-pass it back to the shooter.

Defense, Triple Threat

Set up squad stations with four half-cones about 10-15 yards apart, creating a square boundary with a basket on one side of the square.

Explain simple strategies for playing defense effectively. Students should put themselves between the opponent and the basket. They should slide their feet and keep their hands in a defensive position to prevent easy ball movement.

Additionally, explain the triple threat on offense. Students should look to the basket for an easy shot, look to pass to an open player, or dribble to avoid defense and create an opportunity for teammates.

Students will begin playing 4-on-1 to allow the offense to create chances for themselves to score. The offense should complete a number of passes before attempting to score. The offense will play for 3 minutes and then switch with the defense. 

Progress into 3-on-2 with the defense staying in a zone to protect the basket.

Quarter 3, Week 7 (2/24/25-2/28/25)

Hibler: Art K-3

• Kinder: Students will continue their studies of Claude Monet's bridges with waterlilies. 
• 1st grade: Students will paint their replicas by Vincent van Gogh.  
• 2nd grade: Students will begin adding repeating lines to create texture on their flowering gardens replicas. 
• 3rd grade: Students will finish painting their replicas of Matisses' Goldfish.

Woods: PE 3-6

• Sideline Soccer 
• Team 1 (15 players) will line up on the sideline 
• Team 2 (15players) will line up on the opposite sideline 
• Put 3 soccer balls in the middle of the field. 
• Designate the front and back line 
• On the whistle the first 5 players from both sides will play. 
• The remaining players from both sides will be goalies. 
• If a team scores a goalie, they will receive a point. 
• After 3-5 mins blow the whistle and the next players will go to the back of the line and the next five players in the front of the line will enter the playing field.
