Mrs. Balmer (Music: 3-5)
Music this week will focus on the Winter Concert and reinforcing music theory concepts introduced previously. The 5th graders are making fine progress on their hand chimes pieces, and all grades are learning wonderful repertoire to present at the event. In the coming days, I will be sharing practice resources with you so your Scholar may review the songs at home. Since we only meet every other day, spending a few minutes every evening with the music will prove invaluable to our preparations. We are also wrapping up our September composers of the month this week. It has been a wonderful month of listening and discussions. I hope your family has enjoyed our playlist (linked below)!
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

3rd and 4th
This week we learn about the Greco-Roman myth of Daedalus and Icarus. We read it in English on Monday/Tuesday, and on Wednesday/Thursday I will retell the story entirely in Latin!
Song of the week: The Three Genders Song.
5th
We are continuing to learn about the accusative case in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd declensions. Monday/Tuesday we read the text "in triclinio" in the textbook, and on Wednesday/Thursday we read "amicus". ***Important*** There will be no test in Q1 (so report cards will show a blank in test grades). This is for several reasons, one of which is the slightly shorter Q1 we have this year. We will have our Q1 test early in Q2 (after Fall Break).
Song of the week: The Nominative Song.
6th
We are continuing to learn about the nominative and genitive cases. We should finish chapter two of Lingua Latina this week. ***Important*** There will be no test in Q1 (so report cards will show a blank in test grades). This is for several reasons, one of which is the slightly shorter Q1 we have this year. We will have our Q1 test early in Q2 (after Fall Break).
Songs of the week: The Genitive Song and the Three Genders Song.
